1997-98 Volleyball

1997 PAC Champions
1997 District Champions
1997 Regional Champions
1997 State Final Four

The 1997 Tusky Valley Lady Trojan volleyball team will go down in history as the team that started one of the greatest runs in Principals Athletic Conference history. Coming off a respectable 18-5 season in 1996, the '97 Trojans were determined to capture the PAC championship and leave their mark on the tournament trail. The "Women in Black" not only captured the PAC championship but would go on to make the school's first Final Four appearance in volleyball.

The 1997 Trojans also started two incredible streaks in Principals Athletic Conference play. After dropping a PAC match vs. Fairless in the middle of the '97 season, the Trojans would win their next 95 PAC matches before the streak was snapped in 2006. Tusky Valley would also capture the PAC title and start a streak that would witness the volleyball program capture every PAC championship between 1997-2007.

The '97 Trojans were an extremely young team with Sheli Roden being the team's lone senior. While they were lacking experience, the Trojans certainly weren't lacking talent. Junior Crista Nalley was developing into the team's top hitter while future first team All-Ohioans Sara Lundenberger (1998) and Kristen Jones (1999) solidified the Trojan attack. The team also included Kristine Himes who would go on to a standout softball career at Ohio State where she would leave as the Buckeyes' all time leader in single season and career home runs. Finally the team included future Tusky Valley head volleyball coach Cortney Selden.
